Education Center

Robinson Rancheria Education Center

The Robinson Rancheria Education Center opened in October 2000 as a multipurpose building designed to provide space for educational support and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Department, along with a half-court gym for indoor basketball and Tribal meetings.

In October 2002, Robinson Rancheria received funding to expand the Education Center. The expansion transformed the half court into a full-size basketball court with bleachers and added a weight room, library, and childcare center. Since then, the Center has hosted Tribal events, fitness classes, educational programs, and cultural and wellness activities.

The Robinson Rancheria Head Start program has provided early childhood education to Tribal members, helping prepare youth for kindergarten.

The Education Center also partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and operated as the Boys & Girls Club of the Pomo Nation for several years.

Today, the Education Center offers an after-school program for youth in grades K–12 and provides higher education and vocational support. The facility includes a computer lab, classroom, library, college-bound program, weight room, full-size basketball court, and kitchen. The Center partners with local Tribes, Lake County Tribal Health, the California Tribal TANF Partnership, and the Upper Lake School District to provide cultural events, wellness classes, support groups, and sports activities, including a men’s basketball league.

The Education Center works with the Upper Lake Unified School District through the Title VI Indian Education Grant, which supports tutoring both in classrooms and at the Center.

Robinson Rancheria has also applied for Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) support to help with childcare costs and plans to reopen a childcare and early education Head Start program in the future.
